roof rebedding Rebedding is required when the old mortar has separated itself from the capping and has either fallen out, cracked or crumbled. Bedding refers to the sand and cement which when mixed is the base which holds the capping to the tiles. Over time bedding will slowly lose its hold on the caps due to settling/movement of the house, or heat contracting and expanding the roof. Once the bedding loses its bind to the capping and tiles, the capping or tile cuts can very easily slide or be blown off the roof by stormy weather. You will know your roof is ready for a rebed when you notice cracking or holes appearing in the existing cement.

When rebedding the capping we remove all the old cement and relay the caps using a fresh sand and cement mix. We use a bedding frame when carrying out this work to ensure all caps are relayed in a nice straight line.
